Phone Comparisons: OnePlus 10T vs Samsung Galaxy S22+ – Android Headlines

The OnePlus 10T and Galaxy S22+ are direct competitors in the smartphone market these days. So, it makes sense to compare them, right? That’s exactly what we’ll do in this article, we’ll compare the OnePlus 10T vs Samsung Galaxy S22+. We’ve already compared OnePlus’ latest high-end phone with the Galaxy S22 Ultra, by the way. This comparison makes even more sense, in a way. The Galaxy S22 Ultra is more of a direct match for the OnePlus 10 Pro.

That being said, the OnePlus 10T is a newer phone here. It launched around 6 months after the Galaxy S22+. It does come with a more powerful processor, and the two phones do differ in a number of ways. We’ll first list their specifications, and will then compare them across a number of different categories. We’ll compare their designs, displays, performance, battery performance, camera performance, and audio.

Specs

OnePlus 10T vs Samsung Galaxy S22+: Design

These two smartphones do look quite similar from the front. They both have really thin bezels, flat displays, and a centered display camera hole. Even the curves in the corners are similar. The differences are immediately noticeable when you flip them over, though. The OnePlus 10T has a completely different camera island, with a 2×2 setup, three of which are camera sensors. The Galaxy S22+ has three cameras on the back as well, but they’re vertically-aligned.

Both phones include glass backs. In the case of the OnePlus 10T, it’s the Gorilla Glass 5. The Galaxy S22+ sports Gorilla Glass Victus+ on the back. Even their frames are different. The OnePlus 10T includes a plastic frame, while the Galaxy S22+ has an aluminum frame. That plastic frame on the OnePlus 10T does feel great, though, it doesn’t feel like plastic at all. Both phones are quite slippery, though.

The OnePlus 10T is heavier than the Galaxy S22+, by around 10 grams. It is also taller, and slightly narrower. The 10T is also thicker than Samsung’s offering. It does come with a slightly larger display, though. Both smartphones feel really nice in the hand, and both feel premium. Do note that these are not small phones, though, not by any means, especially the 10T. Also, only the Galaxy S22+ offers official IP certification for water and dust resistance. It’s IP68 in its case.

OnePlus 10T vs Samsung Galaxy S22+: Display

The OnePlus 10T features a 6.7-inch fullHD+ (2412 x 1080) Fluid AMOLED display. That panel is flat, and it offers a 120Hz refresh rate. That display can project up to 1 billion colors, by the way. The display aspect ratio here is 20:9, and we’re looking at almost 400 PPI. The Gorilla Glass 5 from Corning protects this display.

Samsung Galaxy S22

The Galaxy S22+, on the flip side, includes a 6.6-inch fullHD+ (2340 x 1080) Dynamic AMOLED 2X display. That panel also offers support for a 120Hz refresh rate, and it also supports HDR10+ content. It gets crazy bright at 1,750 nits of peak brightness. The display aspect ratio here is 19.5:9, and we’re looking at a similar PPI as on the OnePlus 10T. This display is protected by the Gorilla Glass Victus+.

First and foremost, both of these displays look gorgeous. They’re more than sharp enough, and they are also quite vivid. The blacks are deep, and the viewing angles are good. They’re both really responsive too. The thing is, if you’re spending a lot of time outdoors in direct sunlight, the Galaxy S22+’s display may appeal to you more. It does get brighter, though the OnePlus 10T’s display is also bright enough. Both displays offer good protection.

OnePlus 10T vs Samsung Galaxy S22+: Performance

In terms of performance, both of these phones are well-equipped. Hardware-wise, though, the OnePlus 10T does have an upper hand. The OnePlus 10T comes with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, along with either 8GB or 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM. The Galaxy S22+ is fueled by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, while it also includes 8GB of RAM. Both phones have UFS 3.1 flash storage. Do note that there is also an Exynos 2200 SoC variant of the Galaxy S22+ in Europe, but that’s a completely different story, and it offers worse performance (and battery life) in comparison.

The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is better when it comes to performance, heat management, and power consumption. The general performance difference is not something you’ll notice, but you will notice the difference in battery life. That’s something we’ll talk more about later on. The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 also heats up less, which is something you may notice while gaming, but truth be said, the Galaxy S22+ handles games more than fine.

In fact, both phones are really good for gaming. They can run pretty much anything you throw at them in that regard. The same goes for everyday, regular tasks. Opening/closing apps, multitasking, consuming multimedia content, and so on. You will not notice any lag, even when the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 starts throttling while intense gaming sessions, the performance was fine for us.

OnePlus 10T vs Samsung Galaxy S22+: Battery

The OnePlus 10T includes a 4,800mAh battery, while the Galaxy S22+ has a 4,500mAh unit. The OnePlus 10T also has the advantage of the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, and it does offer more in terms of battery longevity. In fact, the OnePlus 10T is one of the best high-end smartphones we’ve tested this year, when it comes to battery life. We’ve actually been able to cross the 10-hour screen-on-time mark on this phone, multiple times. Getting over the 8-hour screen-on-time mark should not be a problem for anyone, unless you’re a heavy gamer or something.

The Galaxy S22+ doesn’t have bad battery life, per se, but it simply cannot compete with the OnePlus 10T. The Galaxy S22+ should be able to provide you with around 6 hours of screen-on-time, if you’re not a gamer. Do note that battery life depends on a lot of factors, though, so we can only guess. Your usage, and location (network/data signal) will play a huge part in everything, of course.

When it comes to charging, things are quite interesting. The Galaxy S22+ is more versatile, but the OnePlus 10T offers faster charging. The phone supports 150W wired charging (125W in the US). It does not offer wireless charging, though. The Galaxy S22+ supports 45W wired charging (which is as fast as Samsung’s 25W charging), 15W wireless charging, and 4.5W reverse wireless charging.

OnePlus 10T vs Samsung Galaxy S22+: Cameras

Both of these phones have three cameras on the back. The OnePlus 10T includes a 50-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel ultrawide unit, and a 2-megapixel macro camera. The Galaxy S22+ boasts a 50-megapixel main camera, a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera, and a 10-megapixel telephoto unit. Neither of these phones is the best camera smartphone on the market, but both can take good pictures.

When it comes to the main camera, they do a good job in almost all conditions. They both handle HDR well, though the Galaxy S22+ is a bit more consistent in that regard. We prefer the colors from the OnePlus 10T, while the Galaxy S22+ images do look to pop a bit more, though also look slightly less realistic. Ultrawide cameras are good on both phones, but the Galaxy S22+ seems to capture more detail. Zoomed-in shots are better on the Galaxy S22+, as it has the dedicated hardware for it.

The macro camera on the OnePlus 10T is not particularly useful, to be quite honest. The pictures can look somewhat okay in great lighting, but other than that, it’s not something you’ll end up using. In low light, both phones do a good job. They managed to keep a decent amount of details, and keep the noise under control. All in all, the Galaxy S22+ is more consistent, while both are good, but not top-of-the-line in the camera department.

Audio

First and foremost, let’s just say that neither of these two phones has an audio jack. That is something that we’re already used to, but there you have it. What they do have is stereo speakers. There is a bottom-firing main speaker on both phones, and a front-firing secondary unit.

The speakers on both phones are quite good. They get quite loud, and they’re quite clear, though we prefer the output from the Galaxy S22+. It seems like it has a wider soundstage. The difference is not that big, though. The vocals are clear on both, and the distortion is very minimal at the highest of volumes.
