This time around, we’re comparing two flagship handsets, the Motorola Edge+ vs OnePlus 10 Pro. These are the best phones Motorola and OnePlus have to offer at the moment. In some ways, they are similar, but for the most part, there are quite a few differences between these two phones. Considering their price tags are not too different, that they’re both flagships, and that they’re both large, comparing them makes sense.
Do note that the Motorola Edge+ we’re talking about here is the 2022 variant sold in the US. It is essentially the US iteration of the Motorola Edge 30 Pro that launched back in January. Having said that, we’ll kick things off by comparing their specs, and will then move to a number of other categories. We’ll compare their designs, displays, performance, battery life, cameras, and audio performance. Let’s start with the Motorola Edge+ vs OnePlus 10 Pro comparison.

Motorola Edge+ vs OnePlus 10 Pro: Design
Both of these phones are quite large, and come with really thin bezels. The Motorola Edge+ has a flat display with a centered display camera hole, while the OnePlus 10 Pro has a curved panel, and its hole punch is in the top-left corner. The Motorola Edge+ comes with a plastic frame, and a glass backplate. The OnePlus 10 Pro includes a frame made out of metal, and glass on the back. Both phones have Gorilla Glass 5 on the back, by the way.
We’re not sure why Motorola opted to go with a plastic frame, as this is their flagship, but there you have it. Both devices are fairly slippery, and not exactly easy to use with one hand. The Motorola Edge+ does feel a bit slippier in the hand, though. The two phones are basically equally tall, but the Motorola Edge+ is considerably wider than OnePlus’ offering. They’re almost the same in terms of thickness as well.
The Motorola Edge+ is slightly lighter. Now. if we flip the two devices over, you’ll notice they have considerably different camera islands. Both utilize three cameras back there, but design-wise, there are quite a few differences. Motorola’s camera setup looks, well, what you’d expect to see on most phones. OnePlus’ camera island seems as if it’s coming from the phone’s frame, similar to what we’ve seen on some phones from Samsung.
The Motorola Edge+ is water-repellent, while the OnePlus 10 Pro comes with full-fledged IP68 certification for water and dust resistance. Choosing one of the two is a matter of preference, of course, but if you don’t like large phones, neither one will appeal to you.
Motorola Edge+ vs OnePlus 10 Pro: Display
These two devices have the same-sized displays, but they’re considerably different. The Motorola Edge+ includes a 6.7-inch fullHD+ (2400 x 1080) OLED display, which is flat. That display offers a 144Hz refresh rate, supports up to 1 billion colors, and it also supports HDR10+ content. It is protected by the Gorilla Glass 3, which is not exactly the most modern display protection. Gorilla Glass 3 is rather prone to microscratches.
The OnePlus 10 Pro, on the other hand, includes a 6.7-inch QHD+ (3216 x 1440) LTPO2 Fluid AMOLED display. This panel is curved, and it supports an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz. It does support HDR10+ content, and it gets quite bright at up to 1,300 nits. Gorilla Glass Victus is included on top of this panel, for protection purposes. This display also supports up to 1 billion colors.
Both displays look great in person. Motorola’s offers a higher refresh rate, while OnePlus’ has an adaptive refresh rate. You won’t exactly notice the refresh rate difference here, as it’s minimal. Both displays do have great viewing angles, and are quite vibrant. Both of these panels are excellent, to say the least. All you have to do is decide if you prefer flat or curved panels, and consider if you’ll care about display protection, or do you plan to install a screen protector.
Motorola Edge+ vs OnePlus 10 Pro: Performance
Considering the specs included here, you’d guess that both phones offer great performance, right? Well, you’d be right. Both of these devices are fueled by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, and both include LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 flash storage. Android 12 also comes pre-installed on both, though the applied Android skins do differ quite a bit. Having said that, both phones do fly through anything you throw at them, basically.
When it comes to regular, everyday tasks, we had no problems whatsoever. Both phones were buttery smooth every step of the way. That goes for multitasking, opening/closing apps, consuming multimedia, web browsing, and more. When it comes to gaming, the situation was the same, for the most part. They handled everything we threw at them like champs. The only issue we’ve noticed was with Genshin Impact, as some lag was present on the Motorola Edge+. The thing is, it could’ve been the game’s fault. Other than that, everything was spot on.
So, they’re basically on the same level when it comes to performance. Chances are both phones will serve you great in that regard, and stay fluid for quite some time. In these two cases, powerful specs did equal powerful performance.
Motorola Edge+ vs OnePlus 10 Pro: Battery
The Motorola Edge+ comes with a 4,800mAh battery, while the OnePlus 10 Pro includes a 5,000mAh battery. Is the battery life any good, though? Well, yes, both phones offer above-average battery life, at least that was the case in our testing. Even with plenty of picture-taking, and some gaming thrown into the mix, both phones were able to last until the end of the day. Light users may even be able to pull out two days of battery life here.
Neither of the two phones offers the best battery life we’ve seen, but they’re more than decent in that regard. They also offer really fast charging. The Motorola Edge+ supports 68W wired, 15W wireless, and 5W reverse wireless charging. The OnePlus 10 Pro offers 80W wired (65W in the US), 50W wireless, and 5W reverse wireless charging.
One thing to note here, is that the Motorola Edge+ comes with a 30W charger in the box. You’ll need to get a 65W separately if you’d like to take advantage of the fastest charging possible. The OnePlus 10 Pro, on the other hand, does come with a charger that makes use of the fastest charging possible.
Motorola Edge+ vs OnePlus 10 Pro: Cameras
What about the camera performance? Is it in line with top flagships? Well, the camera performance is good on both phones, but not the best out there. The Motorola Edge+ combines a 50-megapixel main camera, with a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera, and a 2-megapixel depth unit. The OnePlus 10 Pro includes a 48-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel ultrawide unit, and an 8-megapixel telephoto camera. OnePlus also includes Hasselblad’s color calibration.
When it comes to the Motorola Edge+, we did have issues with focusing during or review period. Not even touch to focus helped in many cases. The pictures themselves were good in good lighting. When the light goes away, the pictures were okay, but nothing spectacular. The OnePlus 10 Pro, on the flip side, well, the performance was better. In most cases, we’d go with the OnePlus 10 Pro for our camera needs.
The phone offered a really good dynamic range, and plenty of detail, while the colors were spot on. Portrait mode worked great, and the device has a great ultrawide camera. It did tend to overexpose at times, but OnePlus did issue an update to take care of that. If you tend to zoom in frequently, the OnePlus 10 Pro is the device for you, as it has a rather capable telephoto camera. The Motorola Edge+ does not include a telephoto unit at all. Video performance was good on both phones.
Audio
Both devices do come with a set of stereo speakers, and both provide 24-bit/192kHz audio. What they do not include is a 3.5mm headphone jack. Are the speakers any good? Well, yes, they are. They’re not the best we’ve heard, but they’re certainly really good. They’re well balanced in both cases, and the vast majority of people won’t really have any complaints on either set.
When it comes to wired headphones, you’ll either need a dongle, or a Type-C pair of headphones. The sound these two phones can provide is good, and they’re once again on par with each other. Overall, the audio output is really good.
